Considering that volunteering by youth in the fields of heritage protection and heritage education, particularly through international volunteering programmes, is one of the best ways to improve the understanding of the value of heritage among youth and to enhance solidarity among youth to cherish and preserve our common heritage the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and European Heritage Volunteers have started a cross-regional partnership.

Both partners have been working in the field of heritage education for a considerable number of years and agree that opportunities for the younger generation to participate in activities related to volunteering for heritage and heritage education should be further promoted and the international, and particularly the cross-regional, aspect of volunteering for heritage should be developed.

The cooperation between the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and European Heritage Volunteers includes the cross-regional participation of young people in volunteering activities related to cultural and natural heritage as well as the cross-regional support of projects in the fields of volunteering for heritage and heritage education.
